Yea it's A lot of work but well worth it I think . I Started by sanding the original finish with 180 grit down to bare wood . Then sanded with 220 grit then 320 grit then 420 grit . After that I put on 8 coats of poly sanding between each coat . Shines nice and brought the wood grain as well .

I kinda like that shiny look.

That overall green effect of the picture is usually the effect of a florescent light.

Any chance of a sunlight or open shade picture to bring out the true color?

Minwax fast drying clear gloss polyurethane applied with a sponge rubber brush , sanded between coats with 420 grit . The final sanding before the top coat I did with 0000 steel wool just until the surface got a little hazy , then clean with tac cloth .Minwax makes the same product in spray cans I sprayed the final coat with a very then coat . It really makes a beautiful finish .

Not a big fan of poly shine myself but I know plenty of folks that like the look.

Nice job, lots of work.

Marlin, what caliber and age?

Yea that pic was taken in the basement , but in Ohio there aint a lot of sunshine in January and it's only 2 degrees outside . When it warms up a bit I will post some more pics . Trust me though that finish over natural walnut is really sharp .

It got up to 30 degrees today so I went out and took some pics in natural lighting so you can tell more about the color .

I finally got a chance to drag my two lever .22's over to the barn for pictures. Also have a soft spot for .22 pumps.
