New Model GP100 Competition

Appears the long awaited GP100 Competition is available and it's now shown on Ruger's website. Now who's going to be the first one on the block to own one?

Is this it?

I haven't seen it yet. It's nice. It looks like the 4" merged with the WC 3". I won't be the first...

Hmmm...personally, I think I like the looks of my 4" fixed-sight, GP100 in .357magnum better! Plus, mine'll shoot a sub-4" group at 35' from POA through a fixed-sight revolver...I don't think you can beat that by much!

I like that they beveled the top strap, it looks much less chunky that way.

That does look a little better than the side-view! It does appear that they have followed the Wiley Clapp a bit with the Chamfered cylinder and recessed the barrel. I have small hands and prefer the older-style, small Lett grips! I'll bet a set of those with some nice wood panels would look pretty good on it!

It will probably be MA approved after its been out a year or so. According to Ruger customer service they send as many models through the MA testing process as possible some take them a bit longer to send than others, but other GP100 variants are complaint so this should have no problem passing. It looks great though and should sell well in MA once we can buy it.

The rear sight is set deep into the top strap. Might give up some strength compared to standard rear sight models. Other than that, it's a sweet looking revolver.

This would be perfect with the old Lett grips.

I like how the under lug was shortened to make it look like the older service six, but why is the push hole missing for the front sight ? I liked having that so changing the sight was very easy.

Had one here for about two weeks & it's already blown my resolve to buy no more guns.
I like it.

I did ask about that rear sight dovetail, Ruger says it's been tested & doesn't compromise strength.

Sights are made by Novak, so the front isn't changeable like other GP versions.

Amish,
Howbout five 25-yard holes in under an inch?

Put a set of the new style Rosewood Lett grips or the checkered Lett style grips from Altamont and it's a winner Might also look good with a set of the standard Hogue Ruger logo rubber grips or Pachmayr Compacs.

I wonder if it comes "slicked up" from the factory.....

I like it, I want one! I may have to sell a S&W to afford one....
I hope Ruger cranks them out and it isn't like the SR1911 where it will take 6 months to a year for them to get into the "pipeline".As of now there are none on GunBroker.
