I saw a picture of a very similar Alaskan and I believe it was also a Talo exclusive. It's roll marked as a Toklat Alaskan with just about the same info. I don't know if it had a slab sided barrel though. No I've haven't seen one in person and the way things go in my area I doubt I ever will. I would still like to see the Alaskan in 480.

Ugh...I hate those crazy looking barrels sticking out of a barrel abominations. That gun would be perfect if it just had an actual, normal 5" full lug barrel from one end to the other. I know some people like them but to me it looks like someone was drunk and decided to weld a longer barrel on their gun and all they had was a piece of pipe.

They say "people buy ugly". Ruger needs an artistic director.

barrel, caliber

I would like the SRH to be <3 pounds at the 5" length (under 1.4 kg for you napoleonic system folks). The slab sided 5" barrel might get down to that.

And a 480 caliber would be a bit less weighty still. A more handy big bore. Ugly but functional.

I have thought this design looked dumb since Ruger brought it out and for the same reasons you stated. They made a beautiful design BUTT UGLY!

Doesn't look at all like the Bowen version. Bowen does it right, its a beautiful gun, but very big bucks.

Just looks wise it has the appearance of an afterthought barrel added to the first barrel. Not my cup of tea.

Toklat Super RedHawk

Just picked one of these up the other night; found it sitting in a Cabela's store, new, asking $820.00. I thought that was reasonable, so I grabbed it, plus I had never seen the SRH offered with these specs before. After a little searching online, after I bought it, it seems there are not too many of these floating around. I absolutely love the gun, it is very solid, yet not cumbersome, or too heavy. Got some Hornady 300gr 454's to test it with, should be a blast!
