Yes, it sure will. Just take care to keep the bores in your cylinder clean to prevent a problem when you go from .44 special to .44 mag.

That's the beauty of the .357 and .44 magnum revolvers.

As stated, above, you sure can. The only difference between the 357/38 and 44 mag/44 special setup is that 44 Special ammo is much harder to find than 38 Special ammo. It's not a commonly stocked ammo, anymore. None of my LGSs stock it.

I shoot .44 Special Reloads in my Super Blackhawk all the time.
I like shooting cast bullets in the Specials and do a thorough bore cleaning before shooting any jacketed stuff.

Sure does! A 44 magnum will shoot 44 special, a 357 magnum will shoot 38 special, and 22 magnum will shoot 22 special... er, scratch that last one! haha

Not to hyjack the thread but to ask a follow on question.

I just got a 77/44 bolt action. will it cycle 44 specials in it properly. The manual said you should not. Why?

Definitely a 44mag will shoot 44spl, but NOT the other way around!! Same for the .357/.38spl.

Different cartridge length. In magazine fed guns, the magazine can be fussy about cartridge length when it comes to proper feeding. Best bet for lighter loads, then, is to shoot lighter 44 mags to retain the proper cartridge length.

Most of my shooting with my .44 mag. SRH is with .44 specials. They are a pleasure to shoot.

During the ammo shortage, there were times when all I could find was 44 Russian.

A 44 mag revolver will shoot those also. They are just a little shorter than 44 Special and about the same power level.
