LCR Availability

Hi folks. This may be a common question, but I decided about mid-December to buy my 22 year old daughter a .38sp LCR with the Crimson Trace grips (actually, she made the choice) for Christmas.

Well, these guns are pretty scarse. My local dealer can't find any distributer with any in stock. OK, I know that's a common tale for just about every handgun these days.

I was just wondering if any of you might have any insight into the status of these pistols. Are they coming out of the factory, but vanishing as soon as they hit a distributer?

Anyone with inside information? Thanks!

Welcome to the forum.

I picked up a LCR 357 last December before the current supply mess at a local LGS south of Safeco Field, for a reasonable price. I have been back to that store recently and their stock has suffered the same effects as other retailers.... demand has far outstripped supply. I believe that I may have seen one (1) LCR 38 w/ CT during my quest for my LCR 357, at a WAC gunshow. Not sure, but to be honest with you, I wasn't looking for a revolver with your specs. either. You may want to consider trying to find a new LCR 38, and separately purchasing the CT grips from Ruger.com, rather than waiting for who knows how long for the specific model you desire. Or, I guess you will just have to keep calling around to LGSs for availability of your specific desired model.

Good luck on your quest.

Sightngrl will become famous soon enough
I would suggest watching for a LCR 357 w/ct grips too. If you buy the grips after you buy the LCR, it is really expensive. Your daughter can still just shoot 38 & 38+P ammo in the LCR 357.

I haven't seen any centerfire LCRs for over a month. I've only seen LCR-22s on recent trips to my big box stores (Gander and Sportsman's Warehouse).

I guess i'm lucky...I just decided today that I would buy my first gun, for home protection, and went to the LGS and bought the last LCR 38sp with ct grips that they had.

LGS has the 357 for 499... Is that a good deal?

$499 is better than most i've seen at LGS's around here. Picked up my LCR. 357 for $439 with my military pricing. (GT Distributors)

I paid ~ $475 for my LCR 357 (if my memory serves me correctly) last December at a LGS, just prior to the recent hyper-frenzied retail buying scene. It sounds like a good price, if you can find one.

Good luck.

This and just about every other gun I'm looking for doesn't exist anymore. Order and wait seems to be the only way. Thanks Mr. President.

I have been trying to buy another LCR for daughter and an LC9 for friend for the last few weeks. Put my name in online and at the LGS and have had no luck. Got notices from the online suppliers a couple of times that they had gotten one in but by the time I went to the site to buy they were gone. Lasted about 25 minutes the last time from notification.

I think we're just going to have to wait it out until production catches up with demand just like ammo.

One day we will wake up and find an over abundance of guns of all kinds. Then we won't have the money to buy them.
