I fixed it!
That's one of my favorite "beaters"! Now it has some old crusty Pachmayr Presentations on it |

Yeah Happily Addicted, that GP is way too pretty for a "beater/shooter" thread
I love that high polish GP, if I weren't broke I would be tempted to go out and buy a brand new 6" stainless GP and go to town with some Mother's Mag polish I always wanted a stainless Ruger with that deep chrome look, I've just been too lazy to do it
I do love an old worn-in Security Six too, I'm about to go to my "gun room" and do some grip swapping, so some of my "shooters" I posted pics of here may have different grips in a few hours=)
I have a worn looking, beat up blue 4" Security Six with a One Ragged Hole sight, and it's one of my favorite range shooters.

This thread makes me realize almost all of my Rugers are "shooters"
Here's my thrashed but dependable Service Six with old Pachmayrs on it.....
I have it in my nighstand now, I rotated it in to "HD duty" today.
Here it is in a "Hunter" holster.
My "long range sniper revolver" I have an older 8x Burris scope (back when they made them in the USA) on this .44 9.5" SRH. I bought this used, it has lots of field rash on the stainless and someone coated the internals with motor oil. I got it for $400 something and it's an excellent shooter. I put in a 10 lb. trigger latch spring and a 16 lb. "Xtra Power" Wolff mainspring, for faster lock time. It's definitely set up for Single Action shooting but still capable of snapping off a quick DA shot if I ever use it for hunting.
This beat up 6" GP100 started as a GunBroker "burn", the seller "forgot" to mention the drill and tap holes on the topstrap, and half of the scrapes on the blue weren't pictured. I didn't pay a whole lot for it, I forget what I paid but I was PO'd at first when I got it...........then, after dropping in an 11 lb. latch spring and an 11 lb. mainspring, the DA pull is like glass. I think someone who knew what they were doing slicked the action up. I also think someone glued the front sight in, no matter how hard I try it just won't come out.......so, I'm going to put a set of Pachmayr Compacs on it, use plug screws on the holes and use it as a utility shooter/ woods gun.
Not so much a beater or a shooter, just an average .357 Blackhawk in very nice shape. It's a 1976 model, and just shoots great like most .357 BH's do It's my only Ruger SA (so far) , and even though I'm a Ruger DA wheelgun nut, I do want to add a blue .357 Vaquero to the collection.
The same 6" GP100 in my previous post, I just added a Marble's front sight today, that I had laying around and removed the Ace trigger shoe that felt like running my finger over a cheese grater when I touched the trigger The GPNY on the bottom is a "shooter", it has lots of holster wear and dings like most ex-police guns, but it's a tack driver. It had a "gag" in the trigger return, so I cut 3 coils off a S&W rebound spring and replaced the trigger latch spring with it. I kept the stock mainspring in it, and it now has a very heavy but very smooth and even DA pull, with a snappy return. I took off the beat up Lett grips and put Hogue Nylons on it. I hope, someday, to find another GPNY to leave 100% stock, to add to my collection and use this one as a range shooter.
I put the Herrett's back on this shooter grade Security Six......I also filed the SA notch off the spurless hammer to make it a true DAO, since I never used the SA mode in this gun anyway and I wanted to make it a match gun, for informal shooting and some of them require a DAO gun. The Bullseye springs make this gun a very slick shooter, and I would definitely like to use it in a PPC lite match, if I can ever find one. A Millett front sight would complete this one. Again, I think the Herrett's on this gun are hideous but the grip angle is perfect with these and it feels like they were custom made for me, go figure...........this gun is definitely a "tool" and not a barbeque gun.
This is a current photo of my carry and shooter SP101, with the Lett inserts added. There's not a square inch on this gun that's not scraped, nicked, dinged or gouged, but they can't all be pretty...........this one is for shooting and defense, definitely not a "looking at" piece=)

The wife and kids were away for a weekend and I decided to use some Mother's Mag and some elbow grease. Right after finishing, I took some pictures of it because I knew that that is the best it will ever look |

I can't keep 'em straight! |

I do have dozens of Ruger DA's But yesterday I was bored so I swapped some grips around and did some work here and there on some of the guns in the pics.
Now if I could just find time to shoot the darn things, I'd be set!
