| Just picked up the Stainless Service Six
Just purchased this today from a private seller for $375.00 here in CT. and still needs a lot of cleaning. The camera broke before I could take any other shots than these but you get the "picture" (lol). The sun actually does not show how bright the stainless is. Too bad the camera broke because it really shines. Even the ring around the cylinder is a light one so my guess is it was not used much in the last 30+ years...but the internals need to be cleaned.
From looking around it seems its a 1979 model. What I dont know about this firearm is if the grips came stock from the factory and the history. i.e.: was it some type of issue for a certain department and why (or what) the factory mark is after the dang warning. Looks to be a circle with the letter R or H in it. My guess would be its the letter R.

Pachmayers never came stock on Security Six revolvers as far as I remember. They were wood grips. You can find original wood on the various gun auction sites or put a want ad up here if you want some. Ruger even has some original ones still in the packaging for $10 at the moment--check to see if they fit your series in the details area. RLG-Security-Six-Grips-Sturm, Ruger & Co., Inc. |

That R in the circle is a Ruger proof mark. They all have them. If I remember right without digging one out it looks like a backward R. The Sixes came with factory wood grips. The Pachmyers are a nice grip on them. I have the Pach's on mine.

RLG-Security-Six-Grips-Sturm, Ruger & Co., Inc. | Cool thanks for the heads up on the grips, I did not know if they came with them or not. Mine is a 154 model so the grip in the link will fit. Thanks for posting the link! Ordering now.

Nice! Been thinking about polishing mine then adding some stag grips and a polished Tyler-t grip adapter. You may have pushed me over the edge.

Very nice but I don't like the grips, it will look real cool with the wood ones on it again, sounds like that's your plan.

Its actually a 4" barrel. The grips are very comfortable but have a set of NOS wood grips coming in the mail from Ruger.
