| Bought a service six today
I bought a police service six at the Oaks Pa. show today. It is a stainless 155 series with a 2 3/4" barrel and pachmayr grips. The gun was filthy, probably never cleaned. I cleaned it and it took a while to get the powder off around the forcing cone. The gun cleaned up real nice and is in excellent condition, including the bore. I paid $300 total, is that a fair price? I want to post pictures but am having trouble adding pics to my posts, any suggestions are appreciated. This is my third six series Ruger and I am hooked. I now have a speed, service and security six but will be on the lookout for different variations, especially blued. I saw some 6" but I prefer the 2 3/4 and 4".

I'd say you did good. The Service Six is a fine weapon. Can we see your new toy? |

seems like 300 is the going price. I also picked one up earlier this week. A blued security with a 4" barrel. Was very clean and when I got the the range this weekend it shot very well. Have to love that a first year of production gun shoots as well as it did. hopefully it will out last me and then some.

if you delete them from your storage[later],
it will also remove it from your post....
at least it works this way for me.....

The service 6 is a great inexpensive defense gun especially if it is a former police gun.

Beware, they multiply!
It started for me in about the summer of 2009..........I had just gotten into Ruger revolvers and I saw a 4" stainless .357 Speed Six at a local gun shop and bought it. It was a local policeman's duty gun, he retired and sold or traded it to the gun shop. I still have the gun and it's one of my favorites.
Now, I have close to 20 Six series guns, mostly .38 Special Service Sixes. I just went on a streak where I kept finding them cheap and couldn't pass them up |
