GP100 6" stainless half lug price?

Hello all. Question on whether a handgun i am looking at is priced accordingly. It is a ruger GP100 6"stainless half lug with the nice insert grips. Don't believe it comes with box or papers, it looks to be in excellent shape from pics, the fella is asking $465, does that seem to be in line for the older half lug gp100's? And are they more desirable than the full lug GP's?

Thanks.
jim

I know a lot of guys who prefer the full-lug barrel on the 6" GP100, because, they say, it helps to tame recoil. I, however, prefer the 1/2 lug on the 6" barrel because it reduces the amount of weight you have out over that long nose, making accurate and steady aiming a lot easier! In a 4" or 5" barrel, I do prefer the full-lug, but with a 6" barrel, I lean toward the 1/2 lug!

Everyone's different in what they prefer...so to each his own. I will ask if you've had a chance to shoot it? That might help you to determine which you like better...but in .357mag...I think most people can handle that round with either a full or 1/2 lug barrel.

$465 is a decent price, especially if it's at a gunshop and is in good condition. If it's a private seller, that's still not too bad. I would probably offer him somewhere between $400-$450 and see if he bites.

Good luck!

I would say it's a good deal. They don't make them anymore so their value has been steadily climbing.

Amishman44-- makes a good point about their balance. They just feel better in the hand. I have handled both and would go with the 6" half lug over the full lug any day
