| It depends
If you want to duck your head and blush with shame every time you see your neighbor, yes.
Give me his contact information and I will make arrangements to eliminate this potential barrier to your continued good relationship with your neighbor.
The Redhawk .357 is a terrible piece. It is WAY too strong for the cartridge, WAY over-engineered and FAR too heavy.
Because of these design defects the Redhawk .357 Magnum is highly sought after. It can take power levels that make lesser guns fly into pieces.
Seriously, $500 would be stealing it. Would that I lived on the other side of him. I would love to have it for myself.

edit: Why does the picture say "44 MAGNUM CAL." on the barrel? It it says that, and really IS .357 Magnum, you have the equivalent of the Inverted Jenny stamp, I think.

Welcome to RF.net...hopefully you'll enjoy it here!
$500 would be a great price, but realistically, it should retail for somewhere in the $700 range, being unfired, I would probably ask $750 for it...as long as it is a .357mag and not a .44mag revolver!
From a friend, I would expect to pay at least $600...but if he sells it for $500, wow! If you guys settled somewhere in the $650 range, that would be both a fair price and you would be able to get your $$ back if you ever sold it (and you can simply Private Message me when that time come)!
If I would ever be fortunate enough to find one, it would be a 'lifetime' gun for me!
Good luck...and hope you enjoy your new toy!!!

Embarrassingly enough...Yes it is a 44. I looked at several and got this one Confused with one of the other guns he had.
So $500 for an unfired mint Redhawk .44???
Good deal?

| One caution Ruger Redhawk - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
About 2/3 of the way down the page, where it says "Problems with the Redhawk" is the story of barrel separations. This is not a rumor, and a call to Ruger with the serial number is bound to tell if this gun was made during the short period of time the faulty lubricant/process produced this effect.
I would not let this dissuade me from buying the gun one whit.

p.s. My first Redhawk was one of the first to come to Alaska. I recall I paid in the low $300s ($300, 325, something around there). But that was 30 years ago.

Why is the hammer cocked with a trigger lock? If somebody bumps the trigger or lock, the lock is only going to hold the trigger back guaranteeing the transfer bar will engage the firing pin. That scares the hell out of me even if the gun isn't loaded. That is one of the worst "what not to do's" I've ever seen. |

$500 would be a fair "good neighbor" price..........I mean $200 would be "stealing" it, but $500 is not out of line between friends. He probably just doesn't need the gun and wants to pay for a home repair or some such.
Given the fact that it's a .44, and not a .357, it's still mint and unfired and $500 is a good deal for it, but you're far from ripping your neighbor off. New Redhawk's retail for about $650-700.

Run as fast as you can to the ATM! That's a steal and a $800 revolver.

Buy it, but it, but it. Don't even tell him that it is a 44 mag. You are getting the deal of the century. I need a neighbor like that.
