| SP101 Decocking
I've been dry fireing my SP to break it in and I noticed that sometimes when decocking, the trigger will smoothly release forward and other times, it will seem to catch and snap forward. If I had to pick percentages, I would say 60% smooth and 40% rough or "snappy".
Is this normal? Is there a spot that needs some attention or polishing? I did a smooth and polish on the trigger already but I was fairly conservative so It's possible that I under polished and area. The trigger does return/reset every time I decock.
Thanks,
Scott

The wife and I gifted ourselves new 3" .357 mag SP101's earlier this year, and were fresh production. Both had "squeaky" triggers out of the box. I did an extensive trigger job on both with great success overall, but both still have "squeaky-jumpy" trigger returns. Although I have been back to work on the trigger plunger, spring and pocket, I cannot seem to alleviate the problem.
This sounds like the same issue.

I'm not sure how much of an "issue" it is since it seems to be slowly improving with dry fire and dry decocking. I did open it up and repolish the bottom of the pawl and the surface on the frame where it contacts and that did seem to help some.
Sometimes patience and time are the answer?
Thanks

Just checked mine and it is smooth 100% of the time during de-cocking. I fire it a lot, so it is well broken-in.

Tried installing a set of hammer, trigger, and hammer dog springs from triggershims.com yet?
They might be just what the doctor ordered and a cheap but very valuable upgrade of the lockworks when it comes to making the gun consistent from shot to shot. Ruger Double Action

Just a quick update. THe snappy reset when decocking is almost completely gone. Every once in a while you can feel a little resistance but that is slowly going away too. Just took a little dry fire practise which never hurts anyway.
Thanks Gentlemen!

I had the same squeaky issue on one of my SP101 Believe it or not, all I did was remove the trigger plunger spring, pulled it off the little tab, and reinstalled it on the tab with the opposite side. The squeak and the hesitation dissapeared.
My spring initially was slightly crooked on the tab, and you could feel it hanging up slightly. since I flipped it. Perfect every time.
May sound crazy to some of you, but it worked for me.
