I know Wolff lists them as 14#. But I just changed springs on a GP and a SP and in both cases the Wolff 12# spring was heavier than stock springs. I ended up putting the stock springs back in.

Does anyone know for sure what Ruger is putting in them these days?

Since I just order the springs from Midway, I'm very interested in the answer to your question also.

I have the GP-100 and I haven't had it very long. The double action is not too awful with the factory springs, but once in the mid-80's I replaced the springs in a Security-Six and I liked the difference.

Many have reported stock springs in the newest GP's to be 12#, usually because they bought Wolff "spring paks" and found the 12# Wolff spring to make no change in the DA pull. Those with trigger weight gauges found a lot of the stock springs in the GP to be 12#.

Maybe Ruger is using some Wolff springs in the GP's?

I would like to know how you gentlemen came up with these numbers? Do you have a spring gauge and what spec do you go by? IE 14LB @ 1" compression?

Err, the documentation that came with the spring kit and the fact that the 12 lb spring is the heaviest in the kit.

I was asking about the numbers quoted for the factory springs. People throw a lot of numbers around for factory springs with no way to back them up. Just wondering what you were using for a baseline.
