I plan to switch the grips out for a set of the new Large Letts, and try a set of the ISMI silicone springs that are for the Super Redhawk/GP100. I am very impressed with the fit and finish, and I love the matte stainless. This is definitely a snubbie on steroids!
I also have a 4" .44 Redhawk but I already think I like the Alaskan a little more.......I can't wait to fire this thing!

Great Gun! I had the pleasure of WATCHING a guy try to shoot an Alaskan once. He clearly was new to shooting and I believe the Alaskan was his 2nd gun (the first being a 380). Very entertaining, to say the least.
Let us know how it shoots!

I shied away from the .454 model, I thought it might be "too much" gun for me
I do want a SRH 7.5" .454 but wanted to stick with .44 Magnum, since this makes my 3rd Ruger in .44.
I am also playing with the idea of dropping in a factory Ruger DAO spurless hammer, just because I think it would look cool.

It's the same for me since I already have a 9.5" SRH in 454 and don't own a 44. Nothing at all wrong with the 44, will take care of business.

Just wait 'till you realize that you can actually conceal it during the cooler months.
Congrats!

I actually had planned to use it as a carry piece on certain occasions.. Me and my wife go to the nearby PA state parks a lot and PA allows CC on state park property.
If I'm walking around in the middle of nowhere I want to carry something powerful
Those Cor Bon and Buffalo Bore .44 Magnum "+P" rounds look like a winner, some say they approach .454 power levels and are the "Ruger and FA only" loads.

If you're near Hazleton, hit me up to compare 44 and 454 side by side.

That thing is sweet!
Yet bada$$ at the same time...
I would really like to hear your opinion of the 4" Redhawk vs. the Alaskan. I'm trying to decide between the two myself. (Right now I'm leaning towards the 4")
