After you handle a 9.5" Super Redhawk, even the 6" GP will feel like a pocket revolver
To further muddy the waters, you can track down a 5" GP100 and have a nice "in between" barrel length!
Also, many people feel the 3" GP100 is the perfect "do all" .357 revolver. I have a 3" GP and I love it, at 25 yards it shoots as well as any of my 4" and 6" GP's. I don't have a 5" GP though.

Another vote for the 6" here. Looks better, gives better ammo performance, is only 5oz. heavier and makes recoil virtually nonexistant.

I love my 6", it's a target gun, more accurate than I am and a joy to hold. If I had to do it over again, however, I would get a 4". Less muzzle-heavy and I might wear it as a trail gun. The 6" is in the case and it goes to the range more than my other guns, but I think I'll buy a 4" in stainless and share the love. |

I'm biased as I have a 4.2" GP-141. However with hot loads I wish I had a 5" or 6".
My .44 629 that I've ordered is 5" but that was a mix of look and hopefully balance. I'd say if you know someone who has both or if a store carries both. Hold them and see how it feels. The firearm has to suit you.

I like the 4. Good balance, still easy to carry, and as far as accuracy goes, mine's a tack driver out to 50yrds.

My beloved has the 4", I have the 6".
When we were shopping, I was convinced that I wanted the 4".
I picked it up, held it, liked it.
Then she said, "Why don't you take a look at the 6?"
And that was all she wrote. I'm totally hooked.
Now I have the best of both worlds. The 6" GP that I love and the opportunity to shoot the 4" when ever I like.
The 6" has less recoil, makes .38spl feel like nothing.
I've shot some really hot loads from a friend, all they make me do is cackle like a lunatic.
I recommend the 6" for just range / plinking / fun.

I bought the 4 inch, it was handier and a better carry gun for me. There is nothing wrong witht eh 6 inch. It comes down to what are you going to use it for and what you feel comfortable with, and handling.

I went 4.2" because its like the man version of my beloved childhood pellet gun that I no longer have. In retrospect I think I got lucky to a degree with how much I ended up liking it. I cetainly wouldn't sell this one at this point...not to say I won't add a 6" at some point... |

I had the opportunity to hold both and went with the 4" model. It just felt better in my hands. Purchase the one that feels the best.

My opinion on the matter. Go with the 4" it s a great all around gun. The 6" felt a little barrel heavy to me.
I don't think the extra 2" really makes a difference when it comes to accuracy
If you do want to carry at some point say on a hike or a hunt than the 4" isn't to big to carry.
