| Just bought a Ruger Security Six, 2 3/4"
It's blue, and there is easily 99% remaining, just the smallest possible scuff at the muzzle from holster wear. It is about my 6th Six Series over the years, my first 2 3/4" Security Six- I did have one in a Speed Six.
It has the square butt, and I am buying a set of factory wood grips for it-I really like them for carry use rather than the Ruger rubbers.
The SN indicates this gun is from 1975.
I'm retired, almost 65, and I started simplifying my guns by going to .38 Spl and .357 Magnum revolvers. I have been shooting revolvers mostly, but a lot of various autos, too, for about 45 years, and the Six series are my favorite Rugers. I have some old S&W's, but they stay home. I generally carry a Rossi 462. This Ruger will be an alternate, but I'm thinking it will replace the Rossi, which has proven itself a really reliable and accurate handgun...but I like this Six-gun a lot already. I saw it sitting in a small local shop about a month ago. Went back yesterday and it was still there, so...
I sold all my previous Six's, thinking I could always find another one any time. This has proved not to be true, I have not seen one for sale in person for some time-people tend to hold on to them.
Probably shoot it over the next week or so.
Thanks.

Welcome to the forum,
You found a good one. They are still out there. I found a 6" blued S.S. a few weeks ago. I'd rate it 97%+ made in 1980. Of course it had to come home with me.
I have one stainless 2 3/4" Police Service Six which is one of my favorite guns.

I saw it in the shop several weeks ago when I went by for something else, and I have been thinking about it for that time. I was kind of surprised it was still there.. I figured I had pushed my luck with it far enough...

GunBroker has a lot of Six series guns but prices are creeping up.
I'm also a huge fan of the Sixes, but even 2 years ago I was getting thrashed looking blue trade in .38 Service Sixes for $200. You won't find these any more.
The 2 3/4" Sixes are also shooting up in value, and are the hardest to find.

I've got a Security Six with the 2 & 3/4 inch tube too. Mines got a lot of holster wear but no rust and it's as tight as when new. I love this gun but wish they would have made it in a round butt or either someone would have made grips that would help conceal carry minded folks. Still on of my favorite guns to shoot.

I have a 2-3/4" Security Six as well, only in stainless. It's the favorite of my Sixes.

The 2 3/4" Sixes are also shooting up in value, and are the hardest to find. | Even harder to find are the 4" Speed Sixes in .38 (GS-84), especially with the (H) heavy barrel option ( I just bought one from 1980 New in the box) for a price let me tell ya. Same goes for the 4" Speed Sixes in 9mm. When was the last time you saw one of those. The 2 - 3/4" sixes are EVERYWHERE! LOL To get the scoop on which Six Series models are rare you should join RENE (Red Eagle News Exchange) - the authority on the subject. Hey I'm an ex - 11bulletstopper here too 1986-1994! hooooah!

Mark, my name is Mark as well, and I just traded into this 2.75" Security Six in stainless just last week. I love these guns; had a Speed Six snub just like it that I traded away in a fit of stupidity, and I've been looking to replace it ever since. Got lucky finding this one.

Still on of my favorite guns to shoot. | I like to original factory wood grips for carry use. There are some gripper things like the Tyler T grip that can be adapted to fit, and they really help. I just got used to the factory standard grips from years of shooting S&W's with the factory wood grips.I got to prefer them to rubbers.
