.41 Mag. Redhawk

My .44 Mag. SRH would like for me to adopt a kid brother for him. Specifically a .41 Mag. Redhawk. I have checked Impact Guns, Guns International, Gun Broker, etc. and it seems that about the best I can do even for a good used piece is $750 or above. Does anybody have any ideas as to where else I might try. LGS doesn't have one and I doubt if they ever have. Any thoughts???

bwinters will become famous soon enough
About 2 years ago I had to sell my 41 mag redhawk. silly things like daughters weddings etc. However I have never seen one since for less than 800 dollars. The gun is discontinued in 41 and there are many 41 mag lovers who would like to find one. I regularly check gun broker and I have not seen any go for less than 800 and some much more.

I read Redhawk 41 mag and I get tears in my eyes. I stupidly traded one off and have been kicking myself ever since. I'd sure like to find one at a decent price.Good luck in your search. Thankfully I kept my 44 RH and the 357 RH.

Bought my 5.5" 41 Redhawk new in January 1985 and you'd have to kill me to get it.

One of my holy grails. Saw a blued 5.5" at a show a few years back. Could not reach an agreement with the dealer. I should have given in.

This might still be for sale. Doesn't indicate it was sold. Ruger Redhawk in rare .41 mag - 24hourcampfire its a month old but its worth a shot for 640

My local guy has had one on consignment for a couple months, but the price is $750, and he's not taking offers. I might have to start selling blood!

All this talk this week about .41s got me yearning to shoot my baby, so to the range we went today.
Here she is as she looks right now, all covered in soot and smoked bullet lube, about 150 rounds worth.
Was a good day at the range and the old .41 is still a much more accurate gun then I am a shooter.

I've only found two Redhawks in 41 used for sale. The first one in SS was right at $600 so it came home with me. The other was a reblued one with scope rings attached and was a consignment gun and it was $750. It laid in the case a long time before the own took it off the market. That was 2 years ago and haven't seen one since. The one I picked up was a 7 1/2 and matched the one I purchased new in '85. They both see quite a bit of range time. Just happened to have a picture handy.

I wonder why the 41 spl was never developed?

I have a 41 Blackhawk. I have thought about a twin for it.

A Redhawk is a dream.

My husband just bought a 41 mag redhawk today that is unfired. the guy said it was his dad's gun that he bought in 85. It is blued with what looks like ivory grips. Now he does not want to shoot it, he said he is going to take it to the gun show and see if he can trade it for a 44 SRH

I bought mine back in 1986 or 87. This would be a gun I would regret selling. There for would never sell for any price.

41 Special?

Yep... the 41 mag is already special... har har. In all seriousness, the 41 is a fantastic round and comparable to the 44 mag (albeit not quite the power). But the "gun community" did not know what to do with it, exactly. Developed as a more shootable big mag for law enforcement, who already had the 357 and were skittish about the "most powerful handgun in the world" 44 mag, it languished there. Harry Callahan scooped up the big bore mag attention in the later 60's and no one heard much about the 41 mag. No big champions hailed it. While Elmer respected it, it did not get the attention it deserved. Was it a hunting round? Was it a home defense round? It was crammed into an already crowded horserace. Kind of like the 38 super or the 357 Sig in the auto guns. Great stuff but late to the dance. (enough with the metaphors)

Without the attention, who cared about a special? Besides, usually "specials" were rounds preceding the newer more powerful round (a la 38 spec and 44 spec) and gave the option of less punishment to the shooter. The 41 was supposed to be relief from the 44...

So... geezers like me like it and handload it and enjoy the magnum power with a pinch less recoil. When the geezers go away, the 41 mag may just go too.

Well, Sue, I don't think he'll have any problem finding a taker on that one. Not that the SRH isn't a great gun, but does he really want to do that? We're talking the Holy Grail of Redhawks, here.
