I don't know a lot about revolvers, but I've shot and own a few. Haven't found one better than my GP100 with four inch barrel. The DA trigger was amazing out of the box, putting every stock S&W I've ever shot to shame, and the gun is dead on accurate. I've had some issues with my LC9 that I haven't been shy about voicing in the pistols section but Ruger quality is certainly evident in the GP100.

Though the trigger on the 686 is better, I'd rather have the GP100 if I had to choose between them...
For me it is a matter of pointability, feel, and pure ruggedness...

I would like to say my Super Redhawk Alaskan is better, but the GP should be a little easier to conceal at the expense of maximum power. I say the two are equals.

A GP100 with a three inch barrel!!! | It is a tough call. I'll tell ya though, if not for the great experiences w/ my 4" GP's, I never would've bought a 3".

My SP101s are great, but that little extra size and weight make me a more accurate shooter with our GP 4". Our GP has as good an SA and DA as any S&W I've owned and will shoot under 2" at 25 yards off a rest with just about any 357 off the shelf ammo. I just don't see how you could ask a revolver to do more.

On the hunt for a 4" SS GP100, which was my fist handgun by the way, would love to git mine back, but traded in to a gun shop so no telling where it's at.

If I had to choose only one, it would be the GP! I have a 4 inch.

Sorry, but I'd have to say a 4" S7W 624, or one of the 3" versions. Handloaded it is simply a matter of a good big guy beating the heck out of a good little guy

Yes, a nice Security/Service/Speed-Six, for me! But, a 4" half lug GP100 is pretty good too!
