Picked up my new (to me) Redhawk today.
Came with everything seen here:

Big ol' bore!
After I take it to the range, she's getting a .454 Casull SRH cylinder dropped in.

I was going to hit the range today, but just as I was getting ready to pack everything up, the UPS man showed up with my order from MidwayUSA. Lee 20 pound casting furnace, lee handles, and 2 6 round bullet molds - one for 357, and one for 45 Colt. It's hard to justify spending 70 dollars for 500 45 LC bullets at Cabela's when I have an order from Rotometals on the way.
I'm thinking next weekend will be the first range report.

It came with two sets of grips - rubber hogue monogrips, and a set of wood hogue monogrips. Not sure what type of wood it is - the grain leads me to believe Pau Ferro, due to the reddish/brown wood tone and overly dark grain pattern.
I'm not a big fan of Hogue's, but we'll see how they shoot. I actually really, really like the feel of the factory original panels that I have on my 357 Redhawk.

Congratulations on the 45 Redhawk! I know you'll be as happy with yours as I am with mine. I've had mine out once and really a fun gun. I tried 2 different loads and both were O K. One a top end load for the standard 45 and the other a beginning load for the Ruger only loads. I'm sure sorry I waited this long to really try this old caliber out. Now we're going to have some fun! |

Congradulations...and what a beautiful Ruger Redhawk Revolver! Can't say I'm not a bit jealous!
Really, though, people get all caught up in the new-fangled, 9mm or .40 S&W automatics...and many forget about the older .45 long colt or .41mag revolvers, etc. Sad!
Dropping in a .454 Casull cylinder...with that length barrel...makes that gun complete!
Good luck...and enjoy!

I suggest you disregard the other commenters in this thread. .45 Colt Redhawks just aren't a good idea, and a semi-auto in .40 S&W is a better home defense idea. I'll be glad to examine that Redhawk for you and let you know what problems I find. It's probably unsafe to shoot. Gotta look out for my fellow RugerForum.net member, ya know. |

Five inch tube? That's a good looking hand cannon. I would gladly turn my Beretta 92FS into a Redhowk and not take a second to look back. 9mm for a .45 Colt??? Ummm, YEP!!!

Welcome to the club, I love my 7 1/2, it is a joy to shoot. Now if I could just find a good used 4" I would be set.
