| SP101 327 magnum- serious issue
Sorry to have to report on this again. My 327 Fed mag SP101 blows debris back into my face. Initially I had the problem with the Am. Eagle 100 grain cartridges so severe that it twice drew blood. When I called Ruger the CS guy told me to use another ammo, so I switched to the Am. Eagle 85 gr. Some sp 327 owners who had this problem with the 100 gr have fired the 85 gr successfully. Today was my first opportunity to try the 85 gr and I had the same problem, though less severe. Shouldn't be having it at all. This time Ruger is going to take the gun back to check it out. The CS person told me today she had the same complaint from another 327 owner. Unfortunately, the supply of 327 ammo is pretty slim. Can't get it locally in Cincinnati so if we want to shoot the ammo the gun was designed to shoot we have to take what we can find, and shooting the Speer gold dots can get a bit pricey.

It's probably out of time and spitting lead out the gap between the cylinder
and the forcing cone.
That's something for Ruger to fix.

Send her to Ruger let them deal with it! New gun shouldn't be out of time! Ammo soluition, start reloading! the 327 is what got me started reloading! I now reload for all of my revolders! 32/327, 38/357, 44 spl/mag, & 45Colt. much cheaper to shoot my revolvers now that I do! Soon I'll move into the autos!

Follow-up on the debris blow-back issue. Just called Ruger CS to check the status and was told they are going to scrap the gun and replace it with a new one. The problem was described as "excessive cycling". There are others out there who have had the same problem. I urge you to call Ruger and send the gun back. Sounds like a serious safety issue. If I didn't have about 600 rounds of ammo I would try to get the 357.

So what is excessive cycling? A timing issue?

Wow...that is 2 of those I've heard about now. Stick with the .327, once they get you squared away you'll be glad you did. Considerably more choices with caliber options and only going to get even better. No troubles with mine with American Eagle 115 or 85 or Speer 115 or Federal 85 low recoil, or about 6 other ammo's I've tried.

No problem here either with the SP101 in .327 shooting American Eagle 85 grain. A nice shot, btw.

No problem with my SP 101 .327 Federal either. It shoots great. I prefer to carry it over my Model 30 Glock.

The only issue I have with my SP101 327 FM is that it shoots a few inches high at 20 yards with 100 grain bullets. Dead on with 85 grainers though.

"Excessive cycling"- Not sure what it means and the CS rep didn't know either. Others who replied in this thread theorized a timing issue based on the description of the problem. I don't have the replacement letter yet- maybe they will explain it in the letter. I haven't seen any reports of this problem on any revolver other than the sp101 327. I like the 327 but there have been so many issues with this particular model right from the beginning, and it doesn't look like Ruger has them completely figured out yet.

" Excessive cycling" ?
Where is Iowegan when we need him to explain to us what this means.
I'd like to know as well. Any other revolver smiths here?
This question may be worth a separate thread to make sure that people in the know would read it.
