Which 38 snub nose?

I want to get a snub nose. I will use it for target and plate shoots. My club does a 3" max five round max plate shoot. I am looking at a smith 36 or 60 or a ruger lcr.

I left the sp101 off because of the five round max. Saw a 36 today for 325 and the lcr is $400.

I have read review and it sounds like I can not go wrong with either the 36, 60, or lcr.

S&W 36 or 60 with a pachmyrr grip makes for a very comfortable and controlable snubbie not to mention for concealment also

I have never owned, let alone fired, the Smiths. The SP 101 I do own, a 2.25", and I love it. My nephew has had the LCR over to my range and I really like it but DAO kind of turns me off.

I owned a 1960s model 36 for a while until I gave it to my brother-in-law so he had a .38 he could conceal. It was a pretty good weapon, even after all these years but I think the 101 is Surperior to it.

My wife had an SP101 in .38+P and it was an awesome little revolver! It spit .38+P's out like they were nuthin' and was dead-on accurate, POA as well. I wish we'd have kept it! A friend has one in .38+P and it's her EDC gun! Her's has a super smooth action in DA or SA mode! With the heavier gun...you hardly even know when it goes off!

My wife has a S&W airweight 38 and the SA trigger is awesome. It is really accurate for a snub. I think it is a 637. It does Thump cuz it is so light though.

what power level ammo will you be using? i have a number of j-frame s&ws. some are .357s. i really like them a lot but if i was going to be shooting a lot of rounds at a sitting, especially warmer rounds, i would select the sp101.

SP all the way, built like a tank, cheap and a nice piece all around. Just my opinion. Hope you do well on your shoots.

I have owned many of the little Smiths over way to many years and only one SP101.Yes I still have the SP and all the Smiths are gone. The S&W are fine pistols but the SP just does it better.

I will fire my hand loads. I load these. On the low side. I will be shooting 38 special.

I own both the SP and the LCR and the SP is a little heavier so it handles the recoil much better. With light 38 Spl loads the SP will be a powder puff. Why don't you find a range where you can rent a broad selection that includes your choices and see which works best for you.

I suggest the SP-101; I love mine and am considering a 2nd.
