Redhawk .357

Ok, the original Redhawk .357 is somewhat of a rare bird. Stout as all heck and way overbuilt, even by Ruger standards. I would like to know if anyone here would be interested if Ruger were to reintroduce it, but with a few changes.
First, make it an eight, or even nine shot. I haven't done the measurements to know if nine is possible, but if S&W can do eight in an N frame there is no reason Ruger can not do the same in the Redhawk.
The biggest complaint about the originals is the weight. While it makes shooting even the hottest .357s feel like .38 Special target loads in a Security-Six, it kind of makes it impractical for most uses. Long shooting sessions get tiresome holding it up and it is like dragging a boat anchor if you try to carry it. While adding two or three holes in the cylinder would help, I think that if Ruger were to take a page from S&W's playbook and make it with a tappered barrel like the S&W 10, 27, 24, Mountain Guns etc, it could get down to a proper "fighting weight".
I know I would be in line for a 4" if they decided to make it. Anyone else?

If Ruger would make an 8-shot .357 with a full lug barrel I would buy a couple in a second. The problem that I have run into is that Ruger has informed me several times that they are not interested in producing such an animail. They seem more interested in making a single action ten shot 22lr, go figure.

I have a Redhawk .357, they are basically range shooters only

There is no reason to ever carry one, a GP100 or DA Six will do the same job.

The main strength of the .357 Redhawk is for handloaders who want to shoot super hot .357 handloads, or for Ruger nuts like me who just need one of everything

I disagree. I load my Redhawk 357 up with 230 and 250 gr bullets designed for the 35 Remington rifle cartridge - makes for some fun times. Fun is a valid reason :-D

Actually on topic - I filled out the Tell The CEO form on Ruger's website, and told him to make an 8 shot 357 Redhawk. My efforts netted me a free hat in the mail, but I never heard back otherwise.

Crud.

I have sent several comments to the CEO and although I got a negative response I never got a hat or shirt.

I don't think we'll ever see an 8-shot .357 Redhawk......that would sacrifice the meat in the chambers that make the 6-shot version so beefy, but as a bonus it would lighten the cylinder and make up for the "inertial mass" that can damage the stop notches and cylinder latch in fast DA and hard SA in the .357 Redhawks.

I would actually like to see an 8-shot, .357mag in the Ruger SUPER Redhawk, Alaskan Version! The Super Redhawk frame should be able to handle those pressues pretty well. I think THAT configuration would be awesome!!!

I have small hands and the older, original Redhawk Revolver grip-style just doesn't fit well in my hands, whereas the Super Redhawk, when combined with the smaller GP100 factory grip (the one formerly found on their 'fixed-sight' 3" GP100's), which does fit the Super Redhawk grip peg, is perfect...at least for me!

+1

The two I'd really like to see would be an 8-shot .357 Alaskan, and then a .454 Alaskan with a 4" full-lug barrel. I'd write a check today, for either or both.
