I think that will sell well. It sure creates a dilemma with me as to what's next. Jeeze, SR1911, Single 10, SP101 in 22 LR?????????

Per Ruger: An article on a Ruger SP101 in .22 LR was recently published in the August issue of Guns & Ammo Magazine, which just hit newsstands. This article was inadvertently run, as Ruger is not producing a SP101 in .22 LR at this time... |

Ruger posted the apology for the mistake on Facebook a couple hours ago. Maybe a rimfire double action will be released by hunting season.

Now, over at the High Road and to the "other" Ruger forum the new word is it will not be out until August 1st, maybe that was what was meant by "at this time"(??).

This is posted on the Ruger Facebook page. Seems like teh gun is coming in August 1/11
Ruger @Eric - the gun is not available now. We have not officially announced it, we are not prepared to ship it, and if you tried to buy one at a store no one would have it. The article never should have run but Guns & Ammo made a very unfortunate error. The earliest we would hope to have this firearm available is August 1, 2011. We will share the official announcement on Ruger.com and our Facebook page when it is ready. Again, we apologize for the confusion - it is very frustrating for us as well to have a story leaked like this.

relax everyone... G&A didn't just "make it up"... they just ran it too early.
i still think they should use the LCR platform (or something lighter weight with the far superior LCR trigger geometry). but ANY Ruger alternative for providing me with a .22 DA revolver is fine by me.
something is better than nothing (and by nothing i mean S&W)
i also wish they were 3"... the 4" on the smaller frame looks funny to me. and another 1" is not adding enough to make "sight radius" that much better as far as accuracy goes. i'd rather it look more proportionate and be more packable. BUT EITHER WAY... i would buy it. and the whole "hi-viz" sight fad is seriously annoying. at the very least it should just come packed with plain, dot, and hi-viz fronts. a sharp black sight is far more accurate than a glowing dot, in my opinion.

from what i can gather, it's actually the "correct" bore for a .22lr, and not the "compromise" bore that .22lr/.22mag convertibles and dedicated .22 mags use.

pics are posted here: RugerForum.com :: View topic - SP101 .22LR
the sights are interesting. not your typical SP integral setup.
however, the bbl looks like it's from a completely different gun and does not have the typical SP profile. aside from being 'half-lug' - which i like - it looks more like a Smith or a half-lug GP (flat at the muzzle, grooves on the top) which i think looks funny on an SP. i don't know if it's a prototype or what... but there are no markings al all on the bbl, which is beyond odd for a Ruger (like NONE, not even the name "Ruger"). looks to be a more easily replaceable front sight too, like the GP.
even for an MSRP the price is a bit high.
