recoil of 38 vs 45

This is a discussion on recoil of 38 vs 45 within the Ruger Double Action forums, part of the Pistol & Revolver Forum category; I shot a GP100 (4.2 inch barrel) with 38s. How is the recoil of a Blackhawk 5 1/2 barrel shooting 45's compare to it?...

I'd say the .45 would be a little more, but you are comparing two pretty fifferent guns as far as the grips go. The Blackhawks are designed to roll in you hand. .45's out of a BH is VERY manageable, actually isn't really an issue. Try one if you have the opportunatey.
