I've been thinking about getting some different grips for my 6" buled model. The Hogues that came with it work well, but I wanted something better looking. Well my local shop had two NIB sets of the old style grips with the wood inserts. I guess a guy ordered them several years ago, never picked them up, and they got moved into the back room. Well they found the a few months back and they put them out for 38 bucks. I looked at them and determined that they were too small for my hands. Fast forward to yesterday. I was in the same shop and they have a used 6" stainless model with the older style grips. I ask to see it and lo and behold the grips fit me just fine. Dummy me when I checked out the grips several months ago i forgot to take in account my trigger finger! (yes I still have a red mark from hitting my forehead) Needless to say my GP now wears a set of the old style grips. Going to take her to the range tomorrow and test some of my own cast 158gr bullets.

Looks like a whole different gun doesn't it? From an esthetic standpoint, rubber grips just don't cut it. ;)

If they're for the full sized GP grip the'll be too big for your SP. Just get some of the custom made wood panel inserts offered by a couple of vendors on this board and you'll have a whole new look.

The original GP100 grips are the best I've ever used on any revolver. The new grips on the SP101 are, IMO, one of the worst and can only be improved by complete replacement, which I did half-way through the first box of ammo I used in it.

The fact that there are dozens of replacement type grips offered by a myriad of suppliers leads me to believe that most SP101 users agree with me. But of course, opinions are like navals....:)
