Fair trade

Hello I am new to the ruger forum. Wanted opinion on a trade I can make. I have a m&p shield 9mm and can trade for a ruger security six as 4 inch. Just want some opinions but I think I am getting the better end of the trade

I agree that you would be winning that one. I'm not a fan of the shield and you can't go wrong with a 357 revolver. They being said. If both party's are happy then it's a good deal!

It's a ss model. That is what I was thinking. I am not too attached to my shield although it is my carry gun but I can always buy another shield or something along those lines. How hard is it to find the six series revolvers nowadays?

I would buy a Shield just to make the trade. Shields are a dime a dozen, while Sixes are not.

Seeing as how you can get a Shield 9 right now for $225 after rebate, I think you would be coming out way ahead. Probably even without the rebate.

I have a 4" stainless Security 6, and it's a very stout firearm. I would have no issue trusting it to defend me, or my family. It's also a pretty decent little shooter.

I would definitely make the trade if I was you.

I would want to see it in hand before I decided. If it locks up tight and has a clean bore then I'd do it. The nice thing about stainless is any surface blemishes can be buffed out so if everything else is fine then with a little work it will be like new. Good luck.

Welcome to the forum. You have gotten some good input on your question. If the Ruger revolver is in good condition you should be good to go. As Rugerfamily states, if both parties are happy, it's a good trade.

I say make the trade without a doubt, a couple of years ago I was in a tattoo shop and a guy there had a blued security-six in great shape he was wanting to sell. He was also looking for a S&W Sigma and I just happened to have one. Made the trade and got out to the truck and checked the serial number and it was a first year of production 1972. The sixes are as good a .357 you can find in my opinion. If you do post some pics.
