As he says in the video at 6:10, lining the spring up with the arm can be tricky when re assembling.

Of course you don't need to take it down all the way, removing the trigger housing etc to replace the spring.

Also note, when you install a lighter spring be SURE to test the revolver extensively shooting double action.

If you watch the hammer you will see that it comes back quite a bit farther in single action than it does in double action.

My experience has been that even with the lightest spring (12 lb) my otherwise stock Redhawk was reliable in single action but hit or miss in double action. It was totally reliable with the heaviest Wolff spring (14 lb) in the pack.

I feel that the 12 lb spring is only useful in a target/hunting revolver that will only be used in single action mode.

In the end I sent my gun to Jack Huntington for a trigger/action job, mostly to remove the excessive creep it had. It was then totally reliable even with the 13 lb spring, but I ended up putting the stock spring back in it.

My Redhawk is a short barrel Kodiak Backpacker and is carried often. If it were a dedicated range/hunting gun I would have left the lighter spring in.

With the stock spring the pull is now 3 lbe 12oz average and the feel is excellent. I can hardly believe it's the same revolver.
