Redhawk 8 shot 357- any feedback

Am curious if anyone has hands on experience they'd like to share? Did a search, and was unable to find a whole lot of range reports.

So anyone who has once- any feedback? How does it compare to a 627?

Only thing I can recommend is to watch Hickok45's video on it on either YouTube or full30.com. He does a pretty good job on it.

I dont own, but wanted to after watching Hickock45 last week. Didnt hear many negatives other than weight, and that is what everyone says about Rugers' until they NEVER break....

I handled one at the gun shop last weekend. I don't know why, it might be because of the full grip frame but it sure felt heavier than my Ruger Alaskan Redhawk. It was well made and surely a good quality revolver. Double action felt a little heavy, but pretty sure it would lighten up with use. Single action was sweet and smooth.

If your Ruger Alaskan RedHawk has the same length barrel the 8 shot .357 RedHawk would be heavier because of the smaller caliber more weight in the barrel.

Short barrel .357 that weighs a ton is just for fun. It is bigger and heavier than a 627. Wider cylinder. Other differences include that this is a ruger and the 627 is not as good as a club. This is a serious close combat weapon.

I bought a S&W 627pro last week. I did get to paw the Redhawk but the smaller feel in my hand and the 3" barrel didn't win me over. I have a GP WC 357 and just liked the 627 better. It did have an angled rear sight blade, so S&W is sending off a new rear assembly. Easy fix. It sure seems a crapshoot with just about all makers these days. Im not bashing as I have many Ruger revolvers and love them all. Notice I didn't say I have too many...? Im still waiting for my SRH Toklat to break out of layaway jail.

I don't care for snubbies of any flavor, but if Ruger releases this in a 5.5" or 7.5" barrel length, I will buy the first one I can put my mitts on.
