GP100 44spcl 5" here it is!!

well,
here it is i will try for better pics in the daylight tomorrow as this pic does not represent what i see in person.
very quick observations,
I really like the look of the blued with the old style grip panels.

Throats are all right at .431

Front sight is just a tad high (i don't think this is a problem for me on this one, it was on the 3" as i see that as a carry eligible revolver )

Blueing is very dark, i like the more flat appearance, if your expecting S&W shiny smooth from the days of old forget it, you'll be disapointed

A couple of tooling marks present on a couple cut areas but nothing we haven't seen before or worth worrying about

will post more when i can

Nice!
I wish they could do a mag chamber, it'd really give the S&W 69 a run for the money.

If you want a magnum, get a Redhawk. I would far prefer a 44 Special. With the correct handloading the 44 Special is an outstanding cartridge.

Awards Showcase

Very nice. I really like my 3 inch stainless .44 Special, and I just bet that one would be just as fun!

Ah!!!!! I didn't know Ruger was doing the GP100 44 Spec in a 5". I thought when they came out with the GP in 44 Spec in 4", "Why not a 5-6" barrel", much prefer that over the 4". Agree with what has been said about Ruger chambering it in 44 mag, the Redhawk and the Super Blackhawk are available. Can't figure out shooters buying a gun listed as chambered in 44 Spec, then complaining they can't get 44 mags to fit in the cylinders. ???. I like the 44 Spec round, I shoot more of them in my Super Blackhawk than 44 Mags,. The Specials can be handloaded up to higher velocity and energy levels(without going to Elmer Keith levels), the GP is strong enough to take it IMO.

OK, maybe I've not been paying close enough attention on the web(to this forum in particular), but as I said in my previous post I didn't know Ruger was doing the GP100 44 Spec in a 5" barrel. I went to Rugers website and no mention of it, checked a search for 5 inchers and not a whole lot. Did see one on Gunbroker for sale. Are these 5" 44 Special GP's a special dealer order or hasn't Ruger updated their website? Are they available in stainless? Just real curious.

Go to the lipseys web site and use the drop down finder menu first drop down scroll to Ruger and second drop down scroll to gp100 skip the rest and hit display items and all the lipseys gp100s will show up
And as far as I am aware only blued in 5" the 3" is stainless
