ngashooter will become famous soon enough
I found happiness when I put Pachmayr Decelerators on my Redhawk .44mag . It came with some finger-groove Hogue grips on it when I bought it used. They looked cool, and felt good in my hand...until I fired stout magnum loads. The exposed back of the grip frame transferred recoil into my palm just under my thumb causing pain after just a few rounds. No one shoots well with a gun that hurts them. The Decelerators fit my hand and gun well, and I don't recall any odor. Most rubber products smell of the solvents or plasticisers immediately after manufacture. That goes away pretty quickly as they air out. Mine must have sat on the shelf long enough. The padding over the grip frame makes my Redhawk a pleasure to shoot. I can concentrate on sight alignment and trigger squeeze without flinching due to the anticipation of pain.

sobrbiker is on a distinguished road
My 89 5.5" 44 came to me with Pachmayr Gripper Decerators, but I've only shot about 135rds with them. They do well with recoil, but the finger grooves are an odd spread for my mid sized mitts.
I did pick up a set of Pach Presentaions for it.
I have Grippers on an old model Taurus 66 4" that fit me awesome, and found the Presentations work well for me on my 8" Python-so I'm hoping I can settle on one.
My Redhawk is on the way back from Ruger as we speak, and I sent it naked-fingers crossed it comes home with factory wood to try ;-)
