GP100 broken blade on rear sight

So the blade on my rear sight of my GP100 broke in half. Seemes rather fragile as it happened just from being put in a case with another gun (a S&W 686, obviously, they don't play nice together...lol).

So I'm ready to order a replacement blade on Midway, but while I was ordering it I figured I'd look at other options. The Williams optical sights look nice, but I've already got a green optical on the front, and not sure I want optical on the back. Are there any other options to look at?

Also, I was thinking of ordering some replacement springs for it to try at some point. Midway has the Wilson Combat spring set for under $10. Is there any reason to get the Wolf spring set instead? Or are they about the same?

If you call Ruger CS and tell them what happened they will probably mail you a new blade at no cost. They don't have to do it but they often do that with small parts.

I've always used Wolff springs and have been very happy but never tried the Wilson so I can't offer any comparison.

Bowen Rough Country rear is a great sight but a bit spendy at $100 and not always available.

Thanks, those Rough Country sights look real nice. I can appreciate the value in those now that I see how fragile the OEM ones are. I'll try calling Ruger and see what happens, go from there. Save up for the Rough Country ones. Thanks for the advice.

Pretty sure I have Wilson springs in one of my GP100s and Wolf in the either. Haven't noticed any difference in installation or operation.

Thats all the way back to the John Cameron Swayze days !

I agree that Ruger would most likely send you a new part if you call them and honestly explain what happened.

The Bowen Rough Country sights are on distant back order right now. I ordered one Friday for my Redhawk Kodiak. Their target sights seem to be available as I received some in three days when I ordered two weeks ago.

I will try calling them, thanks for the advice. I did buy it new online shipped to a local dealer from the factory, so they may even have a record of the sale.

How did you buy in online from the factory? Perhaps you bought it online from a dealer or distributor then shipped to a local dealer?

Must have been a bad batch. Same thing happened to me while shooting my new GP100 .22. Broke in half, and fell out of the channel.

I bought it through Gallery of Guns website. I guessed that it was shipped from the factory, as it was through a link to GoG on the Ruger website. I placed the order on that website, paid a deposit, they ship it to my local dealer and I pay the balance when they have it. Maybe Gun Gallery is a distributor, and they had the gun in their stock inventory, I don't know.

Gallery of Guns is actually Davidsons, a wholesale distributor. Your gun was shipped from Davidsons to a local dealer, not directly from Ruger.

Even if you may not need it to get a new rear sight blade, Gallery of Guns has their own lifetime guarantee. Check out the specifics on their website.
