LCR .38 Issue

I have two LCR .38s. One is the snub model and the other is the LCRx 3". No problems with the 3" LCRx.

The snub on the other hand, is the hammerless model and has issues right out of the box. If I tilt (cant) it to the right, the cylinder binds. No problem tilting it to the left, or with pointing it up in the air. I'm assuming the transfer bar is binding because I can hear it slapping around on the inside.

I haven't fired it yet but plan to do so tomorrow. I have no problem giving it an ample break-in period before calling Ruger. Has anyone else had this problem? If so, will it go away with dry-firing or range time? Thanks.

I've had the LCR .38sp for years now and never a problem.

You don't need to break it in. It should perform flawlessly out of the box.

If the cylinder is binding, take it back to the place you bought it or send it to Ruger.

The transfer bar you hear is not your issue. It rattles in its rested state. As stated, your cylinder should not bind.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I am going to send it back. It doesn't feel or sound anything like my other LCR, when dry firing. Something is out of whack in the internals. This one is very "gritty" feeling. My older one is as "smooth as silk".

I got 2 defective LCR's 357's and Ruger replaced the one with a 2nd defective one. Both of them the problem was the crane and cylinder were so loose it was hitting or rubbing the cylinder window when opening or closing the cylinder. I'd have to apply some upward pressure under the cylinder to get the cylinder in without hitting the frame. It actually wore the black finish off of it after 100 rnds or so. It's been awhile so I can't remember exactly how many I ran through it plus there was the 2 different guns. Both were determined unrepairable.
After getting a 2nd one doing the same thing plus the trigger wouldn't reset right I asked for a SP 101 instead.
That was it for me and the LCR's.
I did have a 38spl LCR I never cared for and sold it, it but it was mechanically fine. I should have kept that one.

I had a faulty cylinder release on my .357 KLCR.

They seemed to replace the firing control system and everything
else, and had it back to me in a few days.

That's the only Ruger customer service that I can relate.
