I can never find a new Ruger SRH in .480 Ruger

I've been looking for this gun on and off for two years. In that time I've seen two used ones in target gray on armslist in my state but would prefer a new one in Bright Stainless. They always seem to be out at Davidsons or will have the Alaskan version. I am sure Ruger doesnt make a lot of the SRH's in .480 Ruger and it makes me wonder if the caliber will become obsolete soon.

If I'm not mistaken the SRH in .480 was discontinued by Ruger at least a couple years ago. Mine has the target grey finish and I really like it. If you don't reload this might not be a good option for you. I can't say I've looked for factory ammo in over eight years. Components are still available but my favorite bullet for this gun is always a limited production by Speer. Maybe consider the .454?

Yeah I was wondering if they discontinued it but they still have it listed on their site in both Alaskan and the 7.5"

I have a SRH in .454 but wanted a 480 because of its rarity.

I'm going back and forth because I prefer to visually inspect a firearm before purchasing. Its always a crap shoot when buying one online.

My understanding is they only make a batch once or twice a year. To get mine I put down a deposit and placed an order at my LGS. I waited over a year for mine. Not ideal, but you can get hard to get firearms this way.

You could also try Bud's Guns or Kentucky Gun Shop online and purchase through them and have shipped to your LGS. Hope this helps!

I guess I did not look deeper into the Ruger site. You are correct, they still have the two models but not in the 9.5 barrel. Good luck on your search. They are fun to shoot.

Everybody's experience with online purchasing can be different. I've bought half a dozen guns on gunbroker over the last year or so and have had no problems.

I ordered a NIB one from Buds yesterday. They have a target gray one as the picture but it said factory new and I know Ruger hasn't made Target gray SRH's in years.. Used a credit card to purchase just waiting for them to ship it.

Check Armslist , handguns, Myrtle Beach, S.C. - the one you are looking for is there.
