Finally got my GP100

Picked it up from my FFL friend tonight...... whooo hoooo!

This is the fourth Ruger firearm I've purchased, and the first one to come in a plastic case instead of a cardboard box. I guess I'm moving up in the Ruger world!

Nice. I really enjoy shooting 38's out of my 3". I'm sure you will as well.

I've got a few hundred rounds of 357 magnum that I loaded for my LCR 357. It will be much more fun shooting them out of the GP100 than it has been out of the snubbie. Can't wait to get to the range!

I'll make a prediction. Within the first 3 shots you take with the GP it will become your favorite gun. All others will pale before the mighty GP 100!

Love shooting mine. Love, Love, LOVE!

It's too early, but sooner or later you will be looking to smooth up the trigger and reduce the pull on it. Take it from me, it is a breeze to do! Mine has a 2.5 lb pull, which is feather soft compared to what it was before.

Did I say that you will love shooting your GP?

They're great firearms. Have one w/ the Hogue grips & one w/ the rubber & wood inserts.
The Hogues tame 357 mag real well, the inserts look cooler.
You're going to love it!!!!!

Congratulations on your new GP100. I have one just like yours with the 4.2" barrel. It is one of my favorite guns to shoot. GP100s are usually very accurate revolvers and they handle magnum cartridges all day at the range. Recoil is minimal with the heft of a GP100.

Shoot yours and enjoy it!

They're great guns, I think you'll be very happy with it.

If the grips don't fit you there are a lot of options but shoot it a while before you do anything else to it.

GP-100's are incredibly strong and durable guns. They are capable of far better accuracy than a lot of folks will admit. I've shot GP-100's side by side with S&W L-frames and I'd put a GP-100 up against the Smith any day of the week and twice on Sunday. Those Rugers can SHOOT !

If you shoot it for some time and decide you want to smooth up the action, there are some simple things that can be done to greatly improve it but resist the temptation to modify it immediately.

The GP-100 is a LOT o fun to shoot with 38 Special wadcutters and SWC in the 148-158 grain range. With 38 Special target loads, it's like shooting a .22 !

To date that's my favorite purchase. I have the same one, they are sweet. Impossible to leave the range in a bad mood after making the barrel good and hot!
