SP101 back from Ruger

Last year I traded one of my S&W revolvers for a 3" SP101 9mm. I already had a 2 1/4" SP and Speed Six in 9mm and needed the 3" to complete the series. The 3" was tight and lightly fired but bubba had been doing a bit of polishing on the frame area. Nothing high gloss but you could tell the original Factory finish had been altered. Front sight had some holster wear bluing loss also. Gun shoots great but the polishing had been bugging me.

I rolled the dice and emailed Ruger CS to see what they could offer. Got an email back saying to call them, which I did. Spoke with a rep in New Hampshire and explained my issue telling her I was not the original owner. She told me they would like to inspect the gun and issued me an RA number. I Fed Ex'd the gun out two and a half weeks ago. Figured it would be a month or two before I heard from them. Got an email from UPS this past Friday in regard to a package from Ruger. It got delivered yesterday late afternoon. I hadn't heard from Ruger and figured they could not do anything with the finish.

I unboxed the revolver and low and behold it was like brand spanking new. Finish looks like it just came off the assembly line with a new front sight installed. Don't know what process they use but the roll marks are crisp with no signs of the gun being refinished. I was out of my mind happy. Oh, I almost forgot....no charge. I'll say this to the Ruger nay sayers....how the heck are you going to argue with that. Just fantastic.

Don't know what the finish looked like before you sent it in...but that certainly looks spectacular...Ruger just is amazing with their customer service.

Your Ruger SP101 3 inch 9mm I am guessing has quite the value to it. You must have made quite the trade to find this gem nice find!!!

My buddy has a growing S&W collection. I had a CRPD 681 chambered in .38 Special that was just about new in box, that I was into for $800. At the time, considering the bubba polish and no box I'd say he got the better end of the deal. I knew it was rare to see a 3" SP in 9mm and I was happy just to get the gun, so I made the trade. REALLY happy now and no regrets.

Thanks for the comment guys.

Those 9mm SP101's are pretty rare. I would have been hesitant to send it in but looks like they gave her the spa treatment at the factory.

My wife and I have had to send 2 guns (including an SP101) back to Ruger, and their customer service is indeed second to none.

This one is beautiful.

Thumbs up

Absolutely gorgeous. Id love to have that one.

The SP 101 in 327 fm I bought new last year looked like someone finished it with sandpaper.

Once in a while a Ruger has an issue, but there is no company in the business that does customer service like Ruger does. Great score, OP.
