I own a few revolvers but all of their sights are adjustable. The SP 101 sights are not adjustable. I know the reason is because it is designed for carry. My question is how accurate are the factory sights? Any input is appreciated.

The answer will be widely varied. Mine shoots low at 25 yards but on line for windage. I don't have a problem as at 7 yards it is close.

7-15 yards; .38's = 1 inch low
7-15 yards; .357 125 grain = dead nutz
7-15 yards; .357 158 grain = dead nutz
25 yards; .38's = 1-2 inches low
25 yards; .357 125 grain = dead nutz
25 yards; .357 158 grain = 1/2" low (but that's probably me)
I don't practice more than 25 yards with this gun and 90% of my shooting is done at 5-7 yards. The factory sights are decent enough in a well lit area, but I'd probably put some sort of white paint on the front sight ramp for low light. I'm going to replace mine with a XS systems big dot sight.

Mine shoots 38+p 158gr LSWCHPs dead on @25 yards and it'll do 3"ish groups if I do my part.

Mine shoots dead on with .38's or .357mag with 158grn rounds at around 15 to 20 yards. It shoots a little low with 125 or 110 grain rounds.

Mine shoots 4" low and 1" to the left at 15 yards with .357 158 grainers, which is plenty good for me.

Mine is dead on with .38s, a bit low with .38 +P's and 3-4 inches low with 125 gr. .357s. This is all off-hand at 10 yards.

#8 | | | Sights? What sights?
I've got the .357 mag. with the 2 3/4" bbl. It's a point and shoot gun, that's what it was designed for. You'll just have to learn to shoot it like a shotgun with only a front sight for reference. Mine shoots pretty close to dead on at 25 yds. but this is shooting from a pistol rest not off handed. If you really want to be consistently accurate with the SP get you a Crimson Trace Laser grip, aside from that you don't have many( if any) sight options. |

I have the three inch model and, with the right ammunition, it is quite accurate in single action. Certainly more accurate than it needs to be for a CCW.

I believe the SP101 may be more accurate that the shooters on this website! Some days I am dead on at 25 feet. Some days I just can't miss a 9 inch round plate at 50 feet. Some days I miss more than I would like to admit. Well it is a short barrel!

Mine is the 2.25 .357 and it shoots 38's a little low, but tends to be pretty well on with 357's

Well it is a short barrel! | Most guns are mechanically more accurate than the people who shoot them. The Ruger SP101 can potentially put all 5 shots through the same hole; the average shooter's hand cannot.

You put the first bullet through the bullseye, then tell everyone you put all 5 through the same hole! |

I think the impact for misaligned sights or bad form, e.g., stance, grip, etc., will be exacerbated as the range increases.
