LGS has a 3" 357 SP101 in stock and they want $619.00 for it, would you pay that for the SP? i think it may be a little high but this is only the second one that i have ever seen in my area, i checked it out and it looked fine no issues that i could see, i guess i could order one a little cheaper but i like to inspect one before the money moves.
They are in-stock for $528 with free shipping at Buds Guns (no sales tax unless you live in Kentucky).
They have an inspection policy which allows you to look at and inspect the gun at your receiving FFL. If you find anything unacceptable, just call them before signing any paperwork and they will give you a 100% refund and ship the gun back at their cost. I have exercised that option on 1 purchase from Buds and it worked exactly as I described, no hassle whatsoever.
I would look for one much closer to $500. I sold mine for $475 used not too long ago, and at that time they were going for right at $500 new from Grabagun.
Sometimes that is the fault of a distributor. Davidsons just had a 3 day sale on the 5739 model. If I had ordered one yesterday it would have been $495, today it is $582.
Don't buy guns at Bass Pro, Gander Mountain, Cabelas et all. They are the worst with price gouging and combine that with a (generally) low service experience.
I've found deals at those places on a couple occassions, but for the most part they don't care if they sell firearms, because the margin on guns is very low compared to other stuff. If you want to pay a decent price go to a LGS where you are actually helping someone who might care and needs your business. Plus you can form a relationship and become a regular, whereby you can perhaps eventually get better deals down the road and also maybe not worry about being sold something with obvious issues or a very bad reputation.
