So not to sound like im totally trying to pick the gun apart. I really do love the gun. do any of you guys with super redhawks notice any problems in the machining especially on the barrel my barrel has a dip in the machining where it looks like maybe too much material was removed. it is very visable when you look at it and if you run your finger down the barrel it pretty wavy. just curious if anyone else has noticed things like this i don't think it affects the function I just see it everytime I look at the gun lol.

I have been searching but cant seem to find a nice fiber optic sight that will replace this type of front sight.this is the 7.5 inch barrel and to me im not a fan of this front sight at all.

And what would be wrong with this?

Nice to see that they're catching up!! I've been spending regular time on the shop lately and that wasn't available until last week... I LITERALLY looked on Wednesday June 25 for that exact sight on their page and ordered one of the red insert sights directly from Ruger Parts because it wasn't on the Shopruger.com page yet.

Adkroadrunner, that brass bead sight might be the best option for a tritium sight. If you're interested, it's actually a pretty easy job, just gotta send it off and pay ~$100 round trip to get it drilled, lamp installed, and shipped back to your door.

That's crazy I was on the phone with them last week and they said they didn't have anything like that.

I would prefer the front sight to be a tritium sight.

My glock had about a thousand different choices for aftermarket sights, many of which were tritium. Some were orange glow with a triitum vial, others were red, green, yellow, and even pink.

It looks like my Toklat has only what Ruger gave me.

Read the first post & thought WTH?
Was doing photos earlier today on the .454 Super Red that came in last week with envelope dated 6-16-14.
Did not notice any plastic beyond the typical red/orange insert. Just hauled it out to double check, steel.
Neither the base nor the ramp is plastic, just the small red insert. This is a very common method of using a steel base with a colored insert, not cheap & not confined to Ruger.

Read further posts, found you noticed the sight is not plastic.

Don't know what your complaint is.
Ruger makes red-insert sights & has for many years on many guns.

This one is not the interchangeable version found elsewhere, but it is a very usable sight.
Not cheesy & certainly not crap.
What were you expecting when you bought it & why did you buy it if you were unhappy with the factory sight?

Denis
With all due respect, you my love your factory sight but that doesn't mean others have to. One of the fantastic features of a Glock is that there are a gazillion aftermarket products that one can use to customize their Glock.

I could name nearly a dozen aftermarket sights that are better than the Ruger front sight, IMO. So it's perplexing to me why you'd lambast the OP for wanting he/she thinks is a better sight than the one provided by Ruger.

Maybe your eyes pick up orange easily. What if mine pick up neon green better? I should be stuck with them?

Maybe you don't want a tritium front sight. What if I want one? I should be stuck without a night sight?

Maybe you don't like TruGlo front sights. What if my eyes pick them up better?

If you extend your logic, or illogic as the case may be, there would be no need for any aftermarket parts of any type. Just take they give you on the firearm and leave it alone sounds like your advice.

I wonder what the motivation was for Ruger to change sight designs? Cost only or did the previous one come with problems?

I wonder if the new front sight design is meant to be removed to make room for a low mounted scope.

I absolutely love the gun though very fun to shoot
I had fiber optic sights on several of my firearms. They all went in the junk drawer when the front fiber optic sight on my favorite lever rifle broke when it was gently bumped.

Go to the Ruger page for your gun and click "Accessories" on the bottom of the page.

They have fiber optic sights.
