SB15 for charger

has anyone thought about putting the sb15 on a charger
SB15 Pistol Stabilizing Brace

onto something like the tapco or or new ati something where the buffer tube comes off and you could add a pistol buffer tube?

$140 seems kind of high

but if you need it, it could be great

That was the first thing I thought of, after reading about the SB15. I held the full Sig pistol this week, and still think the SB15 would be great on the Charger. However, justifying the cost for the SB15 AND a new rifle stock is going to increase the timeline of the project for me.

I can't imagine "needing" one.

You're right. If I needed one for my Charger, I'm sure I could justify the cost. But, it would currently amount to a "nice to have".

I do have one crazy opinion, after holding the Sig pistol with the SB15. If I was in the market for an AR-style .223/5.56NATO rifle (and had $1,500 burning a hole in my pocket), I would buy the Sig. The small size is a huge benefit, IMO. But, most (actually, all) of my guns fit in a backpack, and I like that.

I think it would beat for a novelty item but it's probably a little pricy...

Don't forget about our friends at the BATFE. They have a few opinions on the SB15 brace.

That's the problem. They have 'a few' opinions and not just one.

I wouldn't suggest putting a rifle stock on a Charger even if the intention is to only run it with the Sig Brace.

If someone was seriously going to do this, I'd flatten out the rear of the stock charger pistol laminate to accept a buffer tube to run the brace on. At least that way there are no rifle parts on your Charger.

Even then, I wouldn't run the risk. (And I DO have an AR-pistol w/ the SIG brace.)

It'll just depend on how many people keep poking the bear by sending the ATF letters for clarification. If people would just shut up about it and stick with the letter when they said it was legal, and the follow-up letter stating that usage doesn't change design (therefore remaining OK), we wouldn't have had the 2nd most recent letter stating that use actually can change design.

I still call BS on this though... if I'm on an airplane and open up a bag of chips by using my car keys, my car keys do not then become a knife and TSA contraband. Nonetheless, I don't want to be the guy dealing with the headaches of proving that opinion in court.
