I'm trying to pick out a scope for the Charger that I have on layaway at Cabela's. I want to get the scope before I get the gun since it doesn't have iron sights I have to scope it to use and I don't want to bring it home until it can go to the range. I decided on a fixed power handgun scope. I think 4x might be just about right for this gun. The front runner right now is the Swift 4x32. Swift makes great optics. Their Audubon line of binoculars are legendary for birding and compare with optics costing several times as much. The 4x32 is $95 shipped. Any thoughts on this type of scope on the Charger? Pros / cons?

i have had a swift 4x rifle scope. Gave good service for around 5 years but lost it's zero. I had moved from the town that had a Swift dealership so i did not go for an exchange. It was a clear scope. The dealer had advertised a free exchange if a swift ever goes bad. Still have it in the top of the closet and might take them up on it one of these years..........

As far as the swift pistol scopes, i don't know how they are in quality. I generaly avoid long eye relief pistol scopes w/magnification all-together as i shoot pistol off-hand and the magnification tremors from a 4x pistol scope drive me crazy. I suspose if you bi-pod set it--that would help. But another thing i dislike about pistol scopes with magnification is the reduced field of view.

I have never handled a charger and don't know for sure how i would tackle optics for my own usage with that pistol.

I would guess if i was gonna off-hand shoot it, i would go with a red dot (unlimited eye relief) with no manification or a pistol scope of 1X power.

If i was gonna bi-pod it and shoot from bench/rest/ground, i'd put a regular rifle scope on it and adjust my hold/position accordingly. Or perhaps a shotgun scope or scout scope for more eye relief for the shootin' position i choose........

BUT I'M JUST GUESSIN'...........

i'd just have to handle one and play with some of the shootin' postions before i decided on what optic i wanted and how much eye relief i'd need.

Let us know what you go with and how it works out for you-----no doubt a lot of folks that may be lookin' at the charger will go down this road of optic selection...............
