With as many Chargers as Ruger has made, I feel it will be a very long time until you would be able to make any money on a USED Charger at that price. The stainless would be the more desirable of the two. I got my new, unfired, blue Charger, with BSA Green Dot for $269 last year.
I got mine nib at lgs recently for 299...it was the ONLY one to be had locally and got it just prior to being taken off the Ruger website...
Any thing that holds it's value is an investment imo...that is certainly true of firearms of any quality...as far as making a profit...maybe...I personally wouldn't buy them to resell at higher price later...even it if did turn a profit...
Now I see that IF you can find one NIB anywhere good luck actually getting it in your hands for less than $400...
So is $350 for a fired but otherwise mint one a good investment now that they are no longer in production if you want one for yourself...
BTW, they each came with an NC Star 2-7x32 Illuminated reticule pistol scope.
The silver scope seems fine; the blued scope seems to be out of focus.
Does anyone have experience with NC Star warranty work?
Afew years ago I bought a couple from Midway, one would not focus, sent it back. The other wasn't much better and now sits on a crossbow. My suspecion with NCStar is they will just replace it an again you have the luck of the draw on what they send you..
If someone really wants a charger now they can buy a tactical inc receiver as a pistol...
Definitely more expensive than a charger at the normal price...however, in the future if the price is "collector item" high it will probably be a wash depending on what other parts one has available already...
There are many different manufacturers of 10/22 style "virgin" receivers that can be assembled into a "Charger". Tactical Innovations isnt the only one.

Kidd told me they don't sell theirs as a pistol...rifle only...not sure if they can't or won't but it doesn't matter...
Nodak has been unavailable for at least 6 months...it does not look as though they will be back with them in 2013 although I could be wrong...and they don't say they will sell it as a pistol...
Who else makes one I can use for a pistol....
Tactical Innovations makes two...or at least they sell two with their name on them...one of them specifically says it can be used for a pistol...the other does not say so...although it's probably the same deal...probably up to the dealer if they want to sell it as a pistol or not...I can see why they would not want to complicate their business with the govt for something with so little demand that even Ruger stopped making them...
At least there is one available for anyone wanting to put a charger together who can't buy one due to lack of availability...
If I could find one now, I'd buy it...
Can't find one in my part of Virginia.
