| Ruger Charger Open Sights
Is anyone aware of open sights that can be fitted to the Charger without gunsmithing, as in not cutting a dovetail in the barrel? I thought that after being out for a couple of years, someone might have come up with a set of sights that can be added easily at home. Maybe ,just wishful thinking on my part.

The only thing I have seen is a replacement barrel with open sights. I dont recall who makes it, but I know there is one available. You should be able to find it with a search. There are receiver sights available for the 10/22 that would work for the rear, I wonder if you could use a two-part epoxy for mounting a front sight? I have epoxied steel to steel, and believe me, its a solid joint. Just food for thought...

Without a front dovetail on the barrel it certainly does limit what you can use for sights. I wonder why Ruger didn't put a dovetail on it?

There's a tool that you can buy from Midway I believe that is basically a metal guide that you use to file a dovetail slot into a barrel. I apologize for not remembering more about it, but hopefully that can at least get you started?

Yes that's what it is---
BUT-- there are some sites that just require drilling and tapping. Most times 2 small holes in the rear and two up front, or silver solder. If drilled and tap method is used the sights can be removed and the holes filled with small no head filler screws.
what is being used now ? and what's the problem ?
Oops just remembered, there are some rear open sights that clamp onto a regular weaver rail.
they are some times called emergency sights, if someone has a failure with optics they can take the scope off and put the open site on the same weaver rail the optical site was on. but you still need a front site of sorts.
