Once again, I say do it! | I think the letters says its okay also. The main subject was if you made it into a rifle (barrel and stock) and then changed it back would you need to re-register it as a pistol.
Wish they wrote it in English.

A longer barrel is ok, on a pistol. Do mot put a shoulder stock on it without a rifle length barrel. Pistols can be converted into rifles but not the other way around. Foregrips are a no no on pistols but ok on rifles, rifles must be 26" long.
Boils down to the fact the atf needs to go, we should be able to make any size rifle, shotgun without the gestapo's approval!

Boils down to the fact the atf needs to go, we should be able to make any size rifle, shotgun without the gestapo's approval! | The letter addressed the issue of a pistol being converted to a rifle and then back to a pistol. What they said was you don't need to because it was already a pistol and the fact that it became a rifle after being a pistol was not an issue.

Well, I have a unanswered question;
What legally defines a "barrel", other than length? Assuming someone buys a 10" Charger barrel, adds a 6.5" suppressor and rifle stock, would that technically constitute a 16.5" legal length rifle barrel? Nothing i've read so far within BATFE regs clarifies. Lets further assume, that the suppressor is permanently attached.

The charger reciever is a pistol so making a rifle out of it is ok and making it back. Taking a regular 10/22 rifle and making a charger is a no no.

The barrel would be the overall length from the front of a close bolt/breech block, etc to the end of the muzzle. Any attachment being measured would be required to be permanently attached. Thus a removable suppressor, muzzle break, etc wouldn't me measured to obtain the legal length. the key is "permanent".

Is the $200 tax stamp a one time fee or does it have to be renewed yearly?

All this over staying within the legal parameters and avoiding a $10,000 fine and possible imprisonment.
