Federal law says ... you have to be 21 to legally buy a handgun, however you can be gifted a handgun or you can inherit a handgun at any age. Again, Federal law states you can only purchase a handgun in your legal state of residence or have an out of state purchase sent to a FFL in your home state where the ATF forms are completed and stored. Each state sets the laws for possession. Here in Nebraska, you have to be at least 18 years old to possess a handgun but you can't legally carry one concealed until you are 21. Under the supervision of an adult (21 years old or more) you can shoot any firearm no matter what your age is.
This forum is NOT the place for legal advise so check with your local and state laws ... they may be radically different than where I live. The best way to cope with your situation is to buy a 10/22 and use it until you turn 21. By then, a Charger may not even appeal to you but for now, what you don't want is a firearms related criminal charge on your record. It will disqualify you from purchasing or possessing a firearm for the rest of your life .... not to mention possible jail time, fines, and confiscation of your firearm(s).
