Ruger charger

Why would anybody want to remove cross bolt for the grip mount lug? I just bought a charger and had a scope mounted. Went to shoot and found that the Cross bolt was striped out, took it back to Sportsmans warehouse and of course nobody knew anything (I'm sure they think I did it). When I was checking it out before buying did not see a problem. Joe took it in the back to mount the scope and came out and carried it up to the front, gave it to me and I left. So what they going to do for me, ship it back to Ruger to get it fixed(3-4 weeks) said they won't charge me shipping. So next purchase NOT at sportsmans warehohse. If anybody would know why cross bolt would be removed or tried to be removed let me know.

Thankx
