BUIS for Charger

I really like the new Charger Takedown but it only used mounted electronic or optical sights. I like to have a back up set of sights, if possible.

I have not yet done this. Here is my suggestion:

Use the Williams Ace In The Hole rear peep sight/rail for the rear and just remove the aperture to use the hole as a ghost ring. Use a Williams 3/8" Shorty Ramp and a 312N Fire Sight front rifle bead for the front sight set. The Williams tech people estimated that I would need a total front sight height of about 0.600".

Here is a photo of a 3/8" Shorty Ramp and a 290N bead n a Marlin 22LR so you can see what it would look like.

Let me know what you think about this. Installation will require drilling and tapping a 6-48 hole in the barrel. The cost would be about $100 to $120 to do.

Sounds like that would work.

Have you considered buying a barrel with sights? You can even sell the stock barrel and keep the price pretty low. There are quite a few choices out there. Like this:

I don't think aftermarket barrels are available for the Charger Takedown.

You do have some choices. A quick search found this:

The seller told me that he can make up blued barrels for the same price.

It appears that he is using the stock Ruger sight set. I'm not sure this set is high enough to clear the rail on the receiver. It's $189 for the barrel (10" or 12"). That's a fair price. It would be good but I think it may need higher sights to be functional as backup sights once a defective red dot or scope is removed. I'm kind of inclined to go with my setup above for $100. That way the sights are high enough and I get a longer sight radius.

You're right about that. Now others will know that sighted barrels in blue or SS are available because of your search.

I installed NSD-26 rear and NSD-44 front sights on my Charger TD. The barrel had to be turned down from .630 to .610 behind the threads. Que is doing that for me now. It gave me military iron sights and a rail for a scope if I want it.

Neat idea. Would be fun for a set of plinking sights.

Here you go. I wanted a set of iron sights but I didn't want anything that was blocky. I needed a smooth flow of the sight lines.

I used a Williams 3/8" Shorty Ramp, a Williams 312N Firesight front sight, and a Williams Ace In The Hole 10-22 peep/rail rear sight. I swapped the standard peep aperture with Williams WGOS Replacement Slide/Firesight Ghost Ring aperture.

Here are the pics.

The Charger

The Ace In The Hole with the Firesight Ghost Ring

The Shorty Ramp and Firesight bead.

A poor pic of the sight picture.

The standard Ace In The Hole aperture.

Sight picture with the Ace In The Hole standard peep with the aperture removed to act like a ghost ring.

The Charger without the red dot.

I like it. Let me know what you think.
