charger?

Is a charger just a 10/22 with a short barrel and a pistol grip. Or is the receiver and trigger set up different? After i get done with my 10/22 i would like to build a matching charger. Not familiar with them.

Earlier this week, I asked the LGS owner that exact question.
He said it is just what you described...a 10/22 with a short barrel and pistol grip.

After some looking there are tons of parts availiable for a build. Like my 10/22 i will buy a piece here and there till i get it together. Will post pics of the matching set in a few months.

Charger Receiver

Charger internal parts are the same as 10/22 parts but the receiver is a pistol receiver and marked Charger. It is not legal to build a Charger out of a standard 10/22 rifle receiver. ATF will give you a nice room for about 10 years and a hefty fine also. Lots of information on the Charger in this forum, a lot about the legalities involved.

This is correct! You cannot make a pistol from a rifle. If you d, it becomes a Short Barreled Rifle (SBR) and you need to file for a $200 tax stamp and wait for months to get a permit or go to jail.

Just buy a aftermarket receiver that can be built into a pistol as you will be much happier. Kidd receivers are rifle only

You can put a forward grip as long as it is not a typical vertical forward grip. A Magpul AFG2 is acceptable or other similar styles.

Doesn't have to be a "Charger" marked receiver. Brownells (among many others) sell 10/22 receivers which are legal for use as a pistol.

As long as it has never been stocked as a rifle, any rifle receiver can be built into a pistol. I have ATF clarifications supporting this for my Rem 700 pistols.
