Went to my LGS today and they said "Charger, never heard of it". Guess I need a different LGS.

I sure hope Ruger can keep up with the possible demand and not pull the same crap they did when the SR1911 came out and it's availability.

I'm with ya. I've already got a Charger, but I barely shoot it. Nonetheless, I saw the takedown and had to have it. I'm just waiting on my LGS.

I had one of the older ones but sold it. Maybe I'll go ahead and get one of these since they are apparently back on the market. Fun to shoot.

I love my custom Charger (2012), now I need a take down. Plinking is a blast with the Charger at any distance. I'll set this one up as a "bug out gun" for my pack.

What about the new Charger ???

I'd prefer a retractable stock and iron sight like this ..

Well, I had said earlier in another post that I thought the grip was not very pleasing to look at but the more I look at it the more I want one. I am sure Hogue will come out with a more pleasing grip soon. Has anyone had one in their hand and what do you think? Not sure what purpose it would serve me, but it's one of those "I think I need it" kind of things. Came very close to buying one today on line, but resisted the temptation. for now!

Well, as far as US laws, if you put a retractable stock on it, it would then be an SBR and require a $200 tax stamp, many months wait, etc...

I agree though, that would be a cool little setup.

My LGS had one of each on display. Thought about it for a while but they were gone when I went back. That is fine because I want to build my own.

I bet that SBR could be built pretty effortlessly. Take a 10/22 stock and modify...

Punch in the model number when you search (4917/4918). More info shows up, but sales are sparse.

Being that the charger is already a pistol, your better bet may be to adapt the Charger stock to accept an AR buffer tube (adapters are available such as when I converted my Akdal MKA1919) then use a Sig Brace. Wallah, an SBR which should legally be classified as a pistol.
