Blissfully quieter shooting.

Never held or shot a suppressor-equipped firearm, but given the damage done to my hearing thanks to music, lawnmowers, loud equipment, etc over the years, I can speak well that the benefits outweigh the negatives for your hearing. Double up (plugs & Muffs) to protect your ears, they'll thank you later!

MZ5, I have an American Rifle in .243 and have ordered a YHM 7.62 Quick Detach Phantom Suppressor. I had the exact same questions and concerns, the American measures .59" in diameter at the crown and I'm assuming that that is the same for your rifle. The really cool thing about YHM is they offer a 1/2 x 28 QD mount. It is the exact one pictured in DDelambre's post, except his is threaded 5/8 x 24. I have asked both YHM and the gunsmith that is going to thread the barrel and they agree that it better to use the 1/2 x 28 QD mount rather than thread the barrel in 1/2x28 and then adapt it up to 5/8x24. Adding more things to the end of the barrel just makes a baffle strike all the more possible. I have not had this work done yet because I just order the suppressor yesterday. Once I get the work done I'll try a post some pictures.

I would highly suggest you go the the YHM (YHM.net) web site (if you have not yet done so), they are really great guys to call, they actually answer the phone and are very knowledgable.

From general to specific: Is there anyone on the Forum who has experience with a sound suppressor on a Ranch Rifle 580 series with the pencil barrel? It appears that at the very least, some kind of bushing would be required. I would like to have some information before talking to a gunsmith. Thanks

hunting nz

Here are a few of my rugers. Hunting new Zealand in the summer time.

I have 6 other over barrel rugers

The .223 sounds like a sub.22 and the .243 sounds like like a .22 standard

Worth getting when you shoot all day. You need it..
