They also have them in stainless, or "all weather" coming soon, and a model that comes with a Redfield scope included:

I do wish they would bring a 7.62x39 version out.

It would quickly become my next purchase.

Anyone put iron sights on their American?

I do think that if Ruger used the American Rifle as a basis for a new, lower-priced version of the Gunsite Scout, it would be a hot seller.

A stainless, compact, Ruger American in .223 would be nice to have. If they could rig it so that there were higher capacity mags for it instead of just the stock, flush-fitting 4-rounders, that would be pretty neat.

The RAR is getting more and more tempting, but I'm holding out on buying one until somebody (most likely Boyd's) starts making stocks for them.

The all weather version looks awful tempting on their website!

Can't wait till march

I saw the add Ruger sent me and I'm definitely getting a compact for a coyote rifle to keep in the F150. A good 3-9 x 40 compact scope should do it. I really like the prostaff 223 with the BDC reticule.
ps. a 7.62x39 would be nice too, but I like to reach out and really touch em.

I have that Nikon scope on my 10/22. Except it's the 22 model and not the .223 model. It's awesome!

I wrote them a note asking for the RAR in .204 Ruger. Seems natural to me, being their round, but the response I got indicated they had no plans for that.
Of course they said that back at the beginning when I asked for it in .22-250. Now it's in the line.

juniorhoss will become famous soon enough
.22-250 is underrated and doesn't get enough credit. Great choice to make the American in that caliber.

I have a custom .223AI 1-8" twist but will be picking up the .22-250 for a truck/beater rifle. The 1-10" twist should work great with the 55,62gr TTSX or 64 gr bonded Nosler.

Does anyone know what the magazine lengths will be on the .223 and .22-250? Hoping that both have plenty of room to seat the heavies. Especially the .223 using the 75gr A-Max.

Just got back from my local gun shop and the OEM mag length is 2.750". Ruger is only making a long mag. and short mag., so all short actions will take the same mag.

I have one in .22-250 and it is a tack driver. It will easily shoot 1/2" or less at 100 yds. with my handloads.

woodsman39, What bullets are you shooting and what's the heaviest bullet you have tried?
