Model 77/17VMBBZ Varmint rifle

Ran across on - looks like new. Never considered a .17 before. Knew/know - little about it. Read some reviews. I like. Would make nice addition to my ruger collection. I always see ammo for it - pricey. Price about 50% of new. Thoughts?

I've got one - it is my all-time favorite rifle...in Mach 2 that is!

Matter of fact I own a Target model from Ruger in every caliber they make. Great rifles. Heavy - not for carrying around plinking.

I have a Savage model 93 in 17 HMR and love it. It's a great caliber and I'm sure the Ruger is a great rifle.
However, if I were buying today, I would look at the 17 Winchester Super Magnum. In a few years, one of the 17's being made today will likely make the others obsolete.
I'm keeping my Savage whatever the outcome, and bought a good stash of ammo just in case.

Been looking at the hornet and wsm. reality is - tho - I can pick up the hmr at 30 - 50% of these new rounds. I see the short comings - looks mostly wind - but - darn- this is a sweet rifle. lol. ya know - sometimes "emotions" just override common sense. lol. and - I am emotionally attached - lol.
